Chord Project

This is my final update for the chord project. I didn't had to much from my last update just a little bit. What I had in my mind before didn't sound so great when I actually put it in the song so I kept it out. I wanted to put a triangle, a suspended cymbal, and maybe a few different shaker parts but like I said, wasn't a big fan of them. I did carry the string bopbass on for the ending which I personal love the sound when it is blended with the lead part. The two together is just great. When the second pattern of the bopbass comes up at 52secs, I decide to have that just in the way back of the other sounds. The point of it is just so you barely hear it but it is still there. Then when that pattern repeats it comes back at normal volume. That is pretty much it. I hope you enjoy.

Update-Not finished yet

This is my updated version of the chord project. It has the same idea as the last one I posted but much different and a lot better. It is pretty much a new song since I started with nothing. I did the Ionian scale. All of the notes are over a C. I keep the same pattern threw the whole song and just build around it for now. My finish version is going to have a longer version of the main pattern to switch up the feel of the song. I like the soft, smooth feeling. I'm going to give it an faster past to it though near the end. I used a kick drum, string bass, and a shake to build around the main pattern. That is about it for now. My next update will be my finished version.

Chords

This project is the chord progressions. Its a pretty fun project and I think it will help me write better songs in the future. Mainly with the flow of the song. I think just a few chords dragged out can really help that way. I'm not finish with this song yet, still writing parts for the song and working on what I have so far. Wrote two different parts with the poizon. I used pre made sounds for each of them. Then my next step was to write the patterns. I started with one chord then looked at my choice to what would come next smoothly. What would sound the best. I did that after every chord. The very first pattern that played in the beginning is the only pattern with a FX that I put on it. That is pretty much it. For the back around I just have a kick drum and high hat. I just want to keep it simple and nothing to complex for the whole song.

ADSR project

This project wasn't to hard to do and it was fun for the most part. I had writers block when I first started, but I was able to write something. The piece isn't to long at all. It also has two parts to it. The first part sounds something from lord of the rings and the second part sounds something you would hear today. I made a poizone and change the ADSR around to my liking. The attack comes up pretty fast and it release pretty fast also. (Full information of ADSR is the post before this one) All the parts in the song is written by me, no riff machine, no chop. This is a first for the most part for me to do. I wasn't to good writing parts for the songs before but I like this one for sure. I didn't do a crazy kick drum or a drum. Kept it nice and simple. I add a triangle too and kept that simple as well. For the two parts, what I did to make them sound different was to shorten the notes and change the pitch. Gives off a whole new feeling/sound of it.

Second poizone update

For my second Poizone, I'm using the ADSR. I have the attack and Decay pretty high to the top.I want a fast attack so the sound isn't tacking to long to rise up. The attack is around 1300ms and the Decay is around 1900ms. Same thing kinda for Sustain like attack. I did not want the sound take to long to rise and I did not want it take to long to go away. Sustain is not that high. Its at 12%. The Release is at 1200ms. I didn't want to have the release to high so it wouldn't hold out the sound for to long.

The poizone project was fun since I could make my own sound and it wasn't that hard. Honestly I never did like working with the styurs which is kind of like the poizone just, the poizone is better I think. Now I do like this and I know how to use it kind of well. I made one main poizone sound and two other one that is similar. I turn the unison up to 4 to change the sound from a beep sound to an more of a chorus affect. In oscillator A I turn the pulse on and turn the PW up to 75%. That will give it a more full rounded sound to it. Oscillator B I turn pulse on put the PW up to 62%. The right amount to keep it at a more of a bass sound that isn't to deep or to high. I put the LP filter on and have the cutoff at 62%, Reso 0%, KBDTRK 0%, Veltrk 70%. The LP filter give it a more thick sound and more of a bass sound to the whole sound over all. That is it for that poizone. My other one is exactly the same but I put Trance Gate pattern in affect to it. There is a third one too, exactly the same as the other two but a different Trance Gate pattern. I like messing around with the Trance Gate so I will be using that for a different project in the future.

An update on my Poizone

I got farther in my poizone project. I'm almost done with it I think and it is coming out pretty sweet so far. I made my first poizone, then I clone that one and mess with the trance gate to give it a little different feel to it. Sounds good.

Poizone

I'm working on my poizone project. I finish making my first poizone sound and now I clone that one and making a poizone that is the same but has a twist to the sound of it. I also have my drum line done for my song too.

Stadium Love by Metric

For my next project I want to use the scratcher and change the song from kinda pop music to rock music half way through the song. I want to use the scratch to make the song sound like it is going back wards and goes in to remix mode. I will make it sound good.

OK GO Remix

To start the OK GO remix I started off, to cut the guitar part up and move the section I use to the start. The guitar is playing out of your right speaker mostly. I want to have the guitar on the right and drums on the left. The guitar part go for four ma shires then the drums fades in to the song. You can make something fade in by clicking on the audio clip and going to channels. At the bottom of SMP there is numbs that say In, Out, Pogo, CRF, Trim. In fades in and out fades out. The drums plays mostly out of the left speaker. The drums are also cut up from the regular piece. As the drums fade in,I have "whiteknocks" singing. Through out the song I cut up the lyrics and move them around in the song. When the drums are fully faded in, I have an other singing part come in that I cut up from different parts of the lyrics. I add a fruit free filter to that part to make the sound a little deep and wet sound. Next came the main lyrics, synth, main guitar part, bass and kick drum.The drum part I have fades out at the end later in the song, then the main drum part comes in. Synth is from OK GO but I had a volume control to it and had the synth fade in and out at certain points. I also you a volume control on the drums to cut out some of the parts with out cutting the drum part up to much more. For the lyrics I add a chorus and delay bank. the delay bank is use for the last word he sings, sing a little longer. Just to drag the word out. I just use a little feedback, its hard to hear it when he is sing. When he does stop, you can tell the last word is being dragged out more then the other words. The chorus is to help the singer voice. It sounded to plain, and boring to me, with out any affects. I also use the synth to help add affect to the lyrics. Having it fade in and out fast when the singer's voice goes high and back to low. Besides cutting the lyrics up a little and affects, I didn't do to much to the lyrics. At the end of the song I have the guitar part fade out also. I just use the volume control again for that part. That is about it. If you have any question, just comment below low.

kanye west love lock down

This was my longest and hardest project by far, but it was really fun for the most part remixing it. Try many things and found what worked and what didn't worked. My first time going at the project I try to cut and past everything and just move stuff around well that didnt work so well. there where up and down to it but over all sounded really bad. Then my second time going at the project turn out to be the better remix. My first step was turning all of the bass, guitar, distortion, etc off but the lyric part. I star the song off with a synth and just build up on it. I had a mix of guitar, bass, drums, high hats, kick and synth all in the song. I made the synth come in and out to had affect to it and it had a really cool sound to it when it did. synth went through the whole song just about, I did cut it off for the guitar and bass and the spots with no music to add more affect to the guitar and bass or to add more affect to the lyrics. Everything else is kinda straight forward. Few more things though I did add a chorus and a delay to the lyrics. the delay was very very calm though. When there is no music playing it is add affect to the lyrics too. Secondly if you try or do remix songs by downloading off line make sure when the voice goes up that the music goes up too. I had a hard time with that. That alone maybe took me a total amount of class time to get it the best I can. Finally try many different things, patters, ways to remix the song etc etc till you fine the best way. There are a lot of different ways to remix a song and don't always go with your first choice, if you second guess anything try something new. Love Locked Down Remix

Semester 2 first project ---- Kanye West remix: Love lockdown

Remixing love lockdwon is not that hard. So far I cut up the voice the way I want him to sing the song and move the bass, his distorted voice, and the piano around to come in at a different time of the song. I put a chorus on his voice and a delay on the ending of each section he sings. I don't want to add to much to the song just want to remix it with the sounds and patterns he use to show how much more better it could have sound. So far I use everything but the drums. I maybe use the drums or I maybe just make my own pattern and add that to the song. I shooting to post the song by next week.

Day 4

Today I made a bass part for my song and it seems my song is coming together very good. I add more bass to the kick drum to add more affect to the song. If you click on the kick drum in view step sequencer then go to MISC you can add more bass sound by turning the pitch numb on the top and/or turn the number up on the left side of it. I put it at ten because I don't want it to be too strong or weak. It will be posted by next class (1/13/10)
