Project 7-Day 1

For project 7 is a roll off from project 6. Just this time we got to make our own sytrus synth. We got to make at least two or three. Instead of a AABA pattern this time we can make an AABA or ABACA or ABCAB pattern. First day I made two sytrus synth one has half and absolute wave form. The second sytrus synth is a little more simple so far. the shap is at 54 degress, tension is at 36%, skew 0%, Sine shaper 0%, Pre-fliter 100%, Noise at 0%. Thats about it so far.

Here is my final song for the sytrus project. I change my mind and didn't add a guitar because it feels like I have one in every song I make so I wanted to make this one a little different. I use the riff machine to make the two patterns of the sytrus sound. For the second sytrus pattern I use something call the the ghost in the piano. The point to use the ghost is to be able to match the pattern but in a different piano window a lot faster and easier. It keeps the same beat going which over all makes the song sound better when it transfer over to the next sytrus. I think I post all my steps on how making this song and I hope it helps. Enjoy!

Today I worked on making my second sytrus sound but haven't got it done yet. I made my drum pattern and thats about it. It is hard to match my second sytrus sound to my first or even the song sound. I use the ghost patter to help make the matching of the two sounds better.

Today I started to work on project 6. We got to make two sytrus sounds and then put them in an A A B A 8 mashers long order for the song. I made my first sytrus sound in a kinda odd way. I wanted to had a fx affect to it so I had the hardcore affect in the mixer. The hardcore affect is made for the guitar or bass but I thought I would try it for the heck of it and turn out pretty good. I turn on the Deterioration and the chorus on it. Left those two alone really just had a little more chorus but that's it. Then I turn the bass up a little to had that boom sound to it. I change thge output and input to make it a more cleaner sound too. Near the end of class I picked out of a guitar but I haven't wright-en it yet so that be for next class.

Today I learn a few new tricks with the vocodex. I learn that you can change the sound kinda. not sure how to explain it but you can change it to Bright, Car horn, etc. It is in the vocodex low left corner of the box.

Note on Vovoder

Today I learn how to learn the Vocoder. It is a tool to use to twice around a voice. I learn how to make it go high or make it sound like the person isn't from this world. It is a really neat tool to use. I up load it from freesound.com.

sampler

This is just three uploaded songs from freesounds.com and it took me around 5mins to make it. it sounds great and it was easy to make.

Slicex

In this project I had to use the slicex which is the new slice beat. The slicex is faster and a lot easier then the slice beat. It slices it up for you. The slicex also marks the sound too. When you mark the sounds it is like making a note for you of what sound is what. For example if there is two kick drums and three crash and a snare. The slicex would mark kick 1 kick 2 snare 1 crash etc. When it is marking for you it helps when you wright the new patter in the piano roll. Which is the whole point of the slicex. To slice up a patter and re wright it to make a new pattern and have it sound different. It is a easy way to get a new pattern and/or to make your song sound better or different in a good way. I think it is a great tool because it saves you time from making a new pattern and you could double your song in length if you do it to every pattern and not sound to same through out the whole song. Few quick tips on using the slicex is 1. make sure you drag the pattern to the slicex after you open it. 2. you got to change the pattern in the piano roll. 3. If there is no sound then check the pattern is not a sample or you are on the right deck. (deck A or B) I say you should try using the slicex in your next project.

Project 2

In this project I had to us eco, fruity delay bank, Fruity squeeze, and the fruit muiltiband compress. The eco controls how the sound comes out and how smooth it does. You can make the sound come out like a really low bass sound or make it come out nice and loud. I use the eco to add more affect on my kick drum. The fruity delay bank is a tool where if you want a sound to repeat you aplly this to it and there will be a repeat kinda like when you yell hello in the mountains and you hear yourself saying hello. I use the fruity delay bank to delay one of my kick drums near the end of the song. The fruity squeeze adds more like a weird sound to the sound you want it to. it makes it sound like you are listing to a bad raido station but you can control how much and how little you want. I had just the right amount to the guitar for the whole song. I was kinda going for a prodicy (the band) sound. Finally the fruit muiltiband compress makes the sound more compress to add a smooth sound to the song. I didn't had to use it to much because I didn't want to change my sound of the guitar but I like how it came out.

This project we had to make a drum beat. I started of slow with the kick and snare drum. As the song went on I add more and more to slowly build up the past. When I wanted to transfer to a new beat I had the high hat and the crash for a good transfer. the song is about 30 seconds. it is a nice smooth drum loop.
